I disagree, though the cursing isn't completely necessary it gives the Director/reader a vivd idea that during this action sequence it is necessary to make this detail very evident to the audience. Very entertaining movie(though almost has the exact plot as Star Wars a new hope). But if it's not broken don't fix it.

I agree with Klai-- it's the way Abrams and Lindelof write and it's won both of them awards. It's clearly used to heighten the situation-- and what better way to do it.

Very good movie- better than any other star trek movie, although I have to agree with lee about the use of the f word. I don't mind that kind of language and it wouldn't be off-putting if it was dialogue (but not in a star trek movie) but it wasn't. Also, Simon Pegg's portrayal of Scotty was better than the tv show.

Having seen the finished products from these hacks, I'm not surprised at the way the actual screenplay reads. This script is a mess. Not only do the "writers" defecate on the source material, they also employ an array of amateur-level devices, witless dialogue, and various format errors. Their idea of structure is to think of a place where they want the characters to end up and then make up a bunch of implausible scenes to get them there. Defenders of these hacks like to point out that Trek 2009 was a hit. Really though, anyone could’ve greenlit a $150 million budget space action film with the Star Trek franchise name attached and scored big box office. Roland Emmerich could’ve directed a ‘Star Trek’ with the guys who wrote Click and it would’ve been box office gold. Too bad they didn’t hire talented writers and directors who could’ve done for Star Trek what Nolan and company did for Batman. A well-written, competently directed Trek could’ve made$ 1 billion worldwide (like The Dark Knight) instead of just $400 million with a poor showing internationally.

I would just like to say, that this script is actually very inaccurate. I was watching the movie, and saw that this whole script was practically made-up, and many lines were left out or completely replaced.
